Make Your Own Monday: Hair Conditioning Treatment

Untitled

This is a once-a-week deep conditioning treatment for dry hair, but the receipt can be frozen in an ice cube tray, so you make several applications at once.

1 egg yolk
1/2-cup coconut oil
1/4-cup whole milk
4 tbsp flax seed or aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon sweet almond oil

Let the ingredients sit out until they are at room temperature.
Place the oils in the blender with the egg yolk and mix on high.
Then slowly drizzle the milk and gel into this mixture while the blender is on low.

It should emulsify for you but it’s not the end of the world if it does not. Apply the mixture to towel-dried hair place a shower cap over the hair and wait 30 minutes, rinse well.

*Flax seed gel can be made by simmering one tablespoon of flax seed in one cup of water until the water thickens.  Then you can strain the seeds out and keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.  This can be used in place of commercial hair gel as well.
